On the Road to Hunger Games

On the Road to

Hunger Games

Plato envisioned a world where an elite group of philosopher kings would rule. He argues that a specific education available to the few would prepare these philosopher kings for their duties.  Such a group would be insulated from those they govern and rule by pure theory.

Have we seen such an elite develop? President Obama graduated from Harvard Law School. President George W. Bush (M.B.A. '75) and Presidents John Adams, John Quincy Adams, Rutherford B. Hayes, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and John F. Kennedy are also Harvard grads. And then there is Yale where Al Gore, Bill and Hillary Clinton matriculated.

Graduates of the London School of Economics include George Soros, Janet Napolitano, Cherie Blair (wife of former PM Tony Blair), and John F. Kennedy.

Associated with those politicians are media leaders. Has the media assumed the role of philosopher kings, the moral arbiters, of our society? That is what some obviously think.

As Mika  Brzezinski said so tellingly,  "He is trying to undermine the media and trying to make up his own facts," she said about Trump. "And it could be that while unemployment and the economy worsens, he could have undermined the messaging so much that he can actually control exactly what people think."

"And that, that is our job," she noted, referring to the media.

What ideas percolate through the rarified atmosphere of these elite schools? Among those whom the elite among us consider the most well-educated and therefore the most qualified persons to rule? Would they be Plato's idea of philosopher kings?  Would they share a contempt for the “deplorables” among us?

What happens when there is no diversity of opinion? When diversity and tolerance applies only to race, religion and gender?

“Now I will tell you the answer to my question. It is this. The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from the oligarchies of the past in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites. The German Nazis and the Russian Communists came very close to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives. They pretended, perhaps they even believed, that they had seized power unwillingly and for a limited time, and that just around the corner there lay a paradise where human beings would be free and equal. We are not like that. We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now you begin to understand me.”

Suzanne Collins' novels recently brought the elitist city of Panem into our lexicon. This conquering District managed to bring other Districts to heel. They lived on the fruit of others' labor and kept the other Districts subdued by force and the annual Games.

Do we now see the advance of Panem on the coasts and in pockets throughout our country?

Have our children been so brainwashed through the national control of curriculum in those areas and on college campuses as to believe that nationalism/patriotism is bad, that only those of certain mindset understand the true issues that threaten our world?

“...most men and women will grow up to love their servitude and will never dream of revolution.”
The education system has inculcated a disdain for dead white men whose western ideals and theories on democracy, capitalism and freedom produced stable societies that encourage creative economic development and the free expression of ideas. In this country, the place where contempt for those dead white men who espoused those ideals runs rampant, those haters of all things western all enjoy the standard of living those ideas have produced.

The British Empire brought these concepts to their client states. When independence movements cast them out of Africa, for example, tribalism returned, roads deteriorated, industrial buildings rusted, disease became rampant, clean water and education for all children diminished as more people fell into poverty and gangs took control. Anti-colonialism meant the rejection of the ideas, literature, government of old white men.

Those who challenge the idea that all cultures are equal (Multiculturalism) are labeled racist. Perhaps they have merely learned from history. That epithet is thrown around labeling all of a different opinion. Diversity of opinion is banned from civic discourse. Silenced. Often with violence.

“Great is truth, but still greater, from a practical point of view, is silence about truth.”
In addition to the hysterical claims of racism, radical environmentalism provides the vehicle now being used to make our people willing to hand over power to an international unelected governing body favored by those associated with George Soros, Hillary Clinton and others in the international Non-Governmental Organizations of the world. They seek to levy taxes on carbon emissions. First they create a sense of crisis and then move in using the courts to establish the mandate for their own agenda.

To whom would one pay these emissions fees and who determines the distribution of monies so collected? How much enforcement power would go to these unelected officials?

President Trump euphemistically calls it The Swamp. They exist in the shadows throughout the government and in the media. And now they rage against the light being shown upon them, mobilizing the radical elements both conservative and liberal to create fear and violence throughout our society.  They attempt to silence us by intimidation so that we will not speak out against the true purpose of these anarchists who merely seek to create a state in which there is widespread wrongdoing and disregard for rules. Then someone else (waiting in the wings) will be called to establish order.

 As whistleblower Snowden revealed ...

“Big Brother is Watching You.”

― George Orwell, 1984

Are we witnessing an orchestrated coup intentionally choreographed to bring down a President of the United States?

So where does the destruction of statues of the Old South apply here, other than to play into the anarchists hands?

And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed – if all records told the same tale – then the lie passed into history and became truth. "Who controls the past," ran the Party slogan, "controls the future: who controls the present controls the past." And yet the past, though of its nature alterable, never had been altered. Whatever was true now was true from everlasting to everlasting. It was quite simple. All that was needed was an unending series of victories over your own memory. "Reality control," they called it: in Newspeak, "doublethink."

And what about the intimidation of those with differing views?

“Taking the kids from our districts, forcing them to kill one another while we watch – this is the Capitol's way of reminding us how totally we are at their mercy. How little chance we would stand of surviving another rebellion. Whatever words they use, the real message is clear. "Look how we take your children and sacrifice them and there's nothing you can do. If you lift a finger, we will destroy every last one of you. Just as we did in District Thirteen."
--Suzanne Collins, Hunger Games

And so, Panem is established.

Vacation? Or Strategic Retreat? Collusion by the Deep State Threatens our Country

Our President and our Constitution are under attack.

The oval office, the space that should be the most secure in our nation and the phone that deserves the most protection, is tapped by a Deep State that seeks to undermine the duly elected president of the United States. Transcripts of the President's conversations with two world leaders have been "leaked" to newspapers.

Where is the outrage? Where are the defenders of our rights and liberties under our Constitution to elect a President who is outside the inner circle of elites.  The loyalty of these elites is not to America. It is to some global agenda anathema to the sacrifices of our forefathers who fought and died in the American Revolution.

I do not think our President is going on a vacation. He is retreating to a more secure place where his every word is not passed on to his enemies in the media who attempted to set up one of their own as president and complete the agenda begun years ago.

The oval office is bugged, wiretapped, whatever term you choose to use.

I heard this morning that the HVAC is so out of date it is being replaced. The President put General John Kelly from Homeland Security in as Chief of Staff. Makes sense to me. Who would have thought you would have to run a security scan on the White House? But with the traitors loose in Washington, one cannot be sure any longer just who is a loyal American.

If I were writing a novel on these tidbits of information, this general, knowing what he knows as Secretary of Homeland Defense, would have put trusted security folks in from outside the government to scan the White House for listening devices. It would be my guess that the HVAC system would be a prime place for unscrupulous agents intent upon undermining a president/presidency to insert those devices.

The question remains, who would have authorized such an intrusion into the security of what should be the most secure room in our country?

Put on your VJ cap as you have been told. Block out common sense.

"Resist."

Resist what?

Chris Wallace in the third presidential debate stated that a tradition in this country, a pride of this country, is that the country comes together for the good of the country. Not to do so, said Hillary Clinton, was "horrifying."

Yes.

It is.

Why do the elites and Deep State feel threatened by a country prospering with hope and patriotism?

Are these people truly attempting to set up a puppet state for some world government -- wealthy, well-connected puppeteers as has been suspected for many years?

The media plows ahead with a fake narrative humiliated that their propagandizing throughout the campaign, their efforts to manipulate the election with polls and their own media bias failed so phenomenally.

Go ahead. Wear the VJ cap and follow those leading the rebellion (because that is what it is), a highly vocal, not silent, coup.

Sadly, many of this flock of sheep have no clue of history. Nor do they know just exactly what they are protesting. They merely spout the rhetoric instilled in them since the shift from teaching an understanding and appreciation of the singularity of our nation, its economic system, and its heritage -- to Social Studies. This Progressive Indoctrination began in the colleges of education on impressionable young people who then became docile sheep circling the wagons at the direction of those in authority when told their careers were in jeopardy.

Do they know the difference between a free, capitalist society and socialism?

Look at Venezuela. What is happening there is not being discussed. People are starving because of the socialist president of that country who now rewrites their Constitution. People flee there to come to America because we prosper with the economic freedoms our ancestors died to give us.

But, do we have sense enough to cherish them? To insist that if you want to be an American, you actually believe in the principles that make our country great?

Sadly, many will attempt to recreate the failed situations they flee to gain power in our country. In order to continue as that beacon we must guard against those who would undermine our government.

The head of the FBI (Comey) turns leaker? To produce a situation where a Special Counsel will be appointed, he said. Perhaps a close friend? One of his own choosing?

Is this a movie script? One has already been done. Just as in Seven Days in May, highly respected institutions apparently now seek to overthrow a duly elected president. Public opinion is being manipulated by co-conspirators -- a media controlled by this Deep State.

In Seven Days in May a secret Army unit known as ECOMCON (Emergency COMmunications CONtrol) will seize control of the country's telephone, radio, and television networks, while Congress is prevented from implementing a treaty with Russia.

Sound familiar?

So now it is the Deep State, the supposed intelligence agencies of our country, the Swamp, with the media as their willing participants, all intent upon shoring up their own position and power-- and then implement their own plan for our country.

Our country has fallen into the trap the Russians may truly have set by creating such dissension and conflict that our country falls prey to our true enemies in the world. That is Russia's goal.

The collusion lies with those who support this dissension and the disrespect of those who voted for the only candidate who supported economic nationalism and the rule of law.

Pray for our President. He is in real danger as is his family. Pray for our country. This beacon on a hill is threatened. Pray for our children because they will inherit what we leave for them.

“A really efficient totalitarian state would be one in which the all-powerful executive of political bosses and their army of managers control a population of slaves who do not have to be coerced, because they love their servitude.”

The Civil Rights Movement in Alabama

I posted a copy of the inspirational eulogy given to me by Ila Flowers on William Hampton Flowers that is well worth reading. http://www.southern-style.com/…/A%20Tribute%20to%20William%… If you have not read it, you really should! It will inspire you to be a better person.
The Flowers Family has been prominent throughout the Tri States area of Alabama, Georgia and Florida. As you would see from the eulogy they came from good folks.
I did an independent study on the Civil Rights Movement in Alabama while earning my Masters. Though I had lived through that time, I really knew little about it and thought to improve my understanding by that study. The annotated bibliography that I submitted was published by the Journal of Negro History. https://www.jstor.org/stable/2717651…
They rejected the article that accompanied it entitled The Dialectic of the Civil Rights Movement Embodied in Governor George Wallace, Rev. Martin Luther King and Judge Frank M. Johnson.
My favorite book from that bibliography was Outside the Magic Circle: the Autobiography of Virginia Durr, wife of Clifford Durr, a relative of Stanhope Elmore's. Hank Elmore told me she attended a birthday party for Virginia Durr in Washington where the high and mighty gathered to celebrate. Durr was a close friend of Rosa Parks and Eleanor Roosevelt, and was sister-in-law (through her sister's marriage) to and a good friend of Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black who sat on many crucial civil rights cases. https://www.amazon.com/Outside-Magic-Circle-Au…/…/0817305173

Suicide, a commentary on the death of Ron Gaskill, friend

July 13, 2017  So sad. We have a friend/neighbor who killed himself this morning.
Ron Gaskill helped his brother Dan remodel our guest cottage. Ron then became our go to guy for many other projects. He became a good friend. Joe always paid him more than his estimate because he was always low on his estimates. We knew he suffered depression and was frequently overwhelmed. But he was always cheerful and upbeat with us, joking around.
During the last week he worked for us, he also cleaned up a pool for another client and suffered almost a heat stroke. He was determined to finish because the guy (who lived in a million dollar home) was having a party and he didn't want to let him down. The guy he was working for told him a tale of woe and promised to pay him later. I am glad I do not know that guy's name!
Then Ron's truck broke down and he had to call AAA to tow him to Dan's house where he worked on the truck to no avail.
This morning, when Dan came to tell us that Ron had driven his truck into a building, he also told us that the guy whose pool he cleaned paid Ron only half of what he owed him.
I cannot help but wonder how people with so many blessings can justify not paying their debts. Knowing Ron, his charge was much less than the value of the job he actually did.
Ron Gaskill was one of the good guys. A meek and humble man with a heart of gold. He was a devoted brother to Dan, kind and loving to Sallie, Dan's sick wife, and a good friend to Joe and me. He took folks to the doctor and grocery store in that broken down truck, saying he got such a blessing helping those who could not pay him for his services. He mowed lawns for shut ins though he had a bad back. He would not slow down.
We wish we had known he needed more of us. I rode with him to buy materials last week and we talked of our faith in God. I told him of the Word God had given me recently when I awoke repeating, "If you look for the good in people you will be a good man; but if you look for the good in people and help them to see it in themselves, you will be a GREAT man."
Ron Gaskil was a GREAT man. I lift him up to our Father in Heaven and pray that he will receive this meek and humble man into his loving care knowing how many lives he touched. God bless his soul and grant him a peace that eluded him through life. He will be missed.

Burnt Corn Creek Re-enactment

There will be a re-enactment of the Battle of Burnt Corn Creek this weekend in Brewton, Alabama. I guess my interest in Creek Indian history was whetted by my Grandmother, Eunice Jernigan Gillis, telling us every time we crossed over the bridge at Burnt Corn Creek that this was where the battle of Burnt Corn was fought. What that was or why it was important to us never registered -- until I did my genealogy and discovered that led to Andrew Jackson later asking my fourth great grandfather, Benjamin Jernigan, to settle in that area and herd some cattle. Jackson learned the hard way that an army travels on its stomach and he wanted to be prepared to battle the Spanish who supplied the arms and supplies to the Creeks who were attacked at Burnt Corn by the militia the Red Sticks later returned the favor at the Massacre at Fort Mims August 30, 1813.
Jernigan, according to one of the Escambia County history books, was a neighbor of Jackson in South Carolina. Ironically, he was also married to a Cherokee Indian, Vashti Vann. His friends, Loftin and Loddy Cotton apparently accompanied him and their children intermarried with the Jernigans and were pioneer settlers in Escambia and Santa Rosa County Florida.
Participating in that battle was Josiah Francis, whom I have discovered was a cousin several times removed. He was later executed by Jackson in what came to be known as the First Seminole War.
This discovery let to my writing Swimming with Serpents (Creek War) and In Pursuit (First Seminole War) mainly from the perspective of the Creek. Everywhere I looked there was history written by the victors (among whom we also had ancestors) But what happened to the Creek and what was their story?
