Malachi Martin and Windswept House. M. Scott Peck Glimpses of the Devil. Is Christianity under attack?

The author describes Windswept House as containing "real events and real people masked in the form of a novel", a device he refers to as "faction”. According to Martin, 95% of events in the book are real, and 85% of the characters are real people.
Windswept House: A Vatican Novel is a 1998 novel by Roman Catholic priest and theologian Malachi Martin. The book charts the turmoil within the Catholic faith and within Vatican City

What is happening now with charges of pedophilia and actual knowledge by the pope is not a new thing. Malachi Martin chronicled what he saw personally during his time at the Vatican

Windswept House describes a satanic ritual - the enthronement of Lucifer - taking place at Saint-Paul's Chapel inside Vatican City, on June 29, 1963. The book gives a depiction of high-ranking churchmen, cardinalsarchbishops and prelates of the Roman curia, taking oaths signed with their own blood, plotting to destroy the Church from within. It tells the story of an international organized attempt by these Vatican insiders and secular internationalists to force a pope of the Catholic Church to abdicate, so that a successor may be chosen that will fundamentally change orthodox faith and establish a New World Order.

What we see happening in the Catholic Church is merely a picture of what is happening throughout many denominations of the Christian church. A bishop of the Methodist Church calls Jesus a bigot and attempts to rewrite the Scriptures to HER OWN IMAGE.

Now, it would be one thing if Ms. Olivetti were a lay person. But she isn't. She belongs to a church that has long professed belief in the divinely inspired Word of God, the Bible. Rather than conforming to the professed beliefs of the religion, she has chosen to set herself up as an example to children and to proclaim that Jesus was a bigot, undermining Scripture in the eyes of small children. The focus is no longer on God and His Word, but on this individual inviting adulation for herself and her heroic stand.

Reminds me of Isaiah 30: 2 and 2 Timothy 3: 24

Social Justice has become the new god. Once again man has decided he knows better than God. Yet, I see only more confusion, more unhappiness as God's absolutes become "so yesterday." We, like the man Micah, now have a house of gods, make up our own priestly garb (ephod), create our own objects to worship (telephone? Facebook? celebrity? (teraphim) and appoint one of our own to become our "priest". And then we "do" what is "right" in our "own eyes." We make ourselves god.

In my own hometown, a local Baptist church had a minister having an affair with the Choir Director's wife while the Choir Director sodomized young boys. And yet, to my knowledge, there was no discipline. Those men moved to other churches without a warning.

An aside, my husband asked his Jewish friend "Why do you never hear of that happening at the Temple." His answer, "We don't have a choir." (A lot said in those few words.)

We now have a spiritual picture of what is happening throughout God's Church in both the Protestant and Catholic religions. Outrage is justified at what is being revealed as happening in the Catholic Church today.

That is why I remembered the book I had read so many years ago, Windswept House, written by Malachi Martin -- and its predictions.

According to The New American, Martin confirmed that the ceremony did indeed occur as he had described. “Oh yes, it is true; very much so,” the magazine reported he said. “But the only way I could put that down into print is in novelistic form.”

Martin's accusation of a satanic ritual at the Vatican was also confirmed by John Loeffler, host of the Steel on Steel radio show.  Mr. Loeffler personally asked Fr. Malachi Martin (who had been a regular guest on his show) about the reported dedication to satan within the Vatican:

"You know Malachi confirmed—the first part of his book, Windswept House—he confirmed the dedication of the Vatican to satan in a secret ceremony that occurred unknown even to the Pope at that time, that he managed to pick up. And I did ask him, 'Was this true? Did it happen?' And he [Fr. Martin] said, 'yes, it did.'" - John Loeffler (July 29, 2000 radio show)  https://www.tldm.org/news/martin.htm

Okay, I know you don't want to believe this. Religion ought to be kept to Sunday gathering and a very civilized discussion. Everyone sharing how they "feel" about a scripture. Something neither hot nor cold. And certainly nothing to make anyone uncomfortable.

That is until you really encounter evil.

That happened with psychiatrist M. Scott Peck.

Windswept House? Fr. Amorth says Devil is ‘at work inside Vatican’
The 1998 Malachi Martin novel, Windswept House, opens with a Satanic ritual performed at St. Paul’s chapel inside Vatican City by members at every level of the Catholic clergy. The purpose? To open the door of the Church to the Devil’s influence, and lead to the destruction of Catholicism from within.

The premise of the book would have been controversial enough, but Martin’s claim that 95% of the story was based on actual events (and 85% of the characters were based on real people) made it moreso.

But is it a preposterous assertion that God’s own priests, bishops and cardinals would participate in the work of destruction? The famous vision of Pope Leo XIII  in 1884 would seem to suggest otherwise:

…They recounted that Pope Leo XIII was climbing the steps to the altar when he suddenly stopped, stared fixedly at something in the air and with a terrible look on his face, collapsed to the floor (some accounts say he fell shrieking). The Pope was carried off by those around him to another room where he came around. As one rendition of the story tells it:

“When asked what had happened, he explained that, as he was about to leave the foot of the altar, he suddenly heard voices – two voices, one kind and gentle, the other guttural and harsh. They seemed to come from near the tabernacle. As he listened, he heard the following conversation:
The guttural voice, the voice of Satan in his pride, boasted to Our Lord: “I can destroy your Church.”
The gentle voice of Our Lord: “You can? Then go ahead and do so.”
Satan: “To do so, I need more time and more power.”
Our Lord: “How much time? How much power?”
Satan: “75 to 100 years, and a greater power over those who will give themselves over to my service.”
Our Lord: “You have the time, you will have the power. Do with them what you will.”

Following this, the Holy Father was so shaken that he sat down and composed the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel, which was then instituted as a universal prayer to be said after every low Mass throughout the world.
In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

O glorious Archangel St. Michael, Prince of the heavenly host, defend us in battle, and in the struggle which is ours against the principalities and Powers, against the rulers of this world of darkness, against spirits of evil in high places (Eph 6:12). Come to the aid of men, whom God created immortal, made in his own image and likeness, and redeemed at a great price from the tyranny of the devil (Wisdom 2:23-241 Cor 6:20).

Fight this day the battle of the Lord, together with the holy angels, as already thou hast fought the leader of the proud angels, Lucifer, and his apostate host, who were powerless to resist thee, nor was there a place for them any longer in Heaven. But that cruel, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil or Satan, who seduces the whole world, was cast into the abyss with all his angels (Rev 12:7-9).

Behold, this primeval enemy and slayer of man has taken courage, Transformed into an angel of light, he wanders about with all the multitude of wicked spirits, invading the earth in order to blot out the name of God and of his Christ, to seize upon, slay and cast into eternal perdition souls destined for the crown of eternal glory.

This wicked dragon pours out, as a most impure flood, the venom of his malice on men of depraved mind and corrupt heart, the spirit of lying, of impiety, of blasphemy, and the pestilent breath of impurity, and of every vice and iniquity.

These most crafty enemies have filled and inebriated with gall and bitterness the Church, the spouse of the Immaculate Lamb, and have laid impious hands on her most sacred possessions (Lam 3:15).

In the Holy Place itself, where has been set up the See of the most blessed Peter and the Chair of Truth for the light of the world, they have raised the throne of their abominable impiety, with the iniquitous design that when the Pastor has been struck, the sheep may be scattered.

Arise then, O invincible prince, bring help against the attacks of the lost spirits to the people of God, and bring them the victory.

The Church venerates thee as protector and patron; in thee holy Church glories as her defense against the malicious powers of this world and of hell; to thee has God entrusted the souls of men to be established in heavenly beatitude.

Oh, pray to the God of peace that He may put Satan under our feet, so far conquered that he may no longer be able to hold men in captivity and harm the Church. Offer our prayers in the sight of the Most High, so that they may quickly conciliate the mercies of the Lord; and beating down the dragon, the ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, do thou again make him captive in the abyss, that he may no longer seduce the nations. Amen.[13] Wikipedia

Some would argue that the suppression of this practice by the Sacred Congregation of
Rites just 80 years later – nicely within the Devil’s timeline – counts as evidence of the
effectiveness of his challenge.

Today, we again hear the alarming assertion that the devil is “in the Vatican,” this time from Fr. Gabriel Amorth, considered the world’s most experienced exorcist. In his recently published memoirs, Fr. Amorth makes claims that seem to have come straight from Martin’s novel. According the The Times (UK):
Sex abuse scandals in the Roman Catholic Church are proof that that “the Devil is at work inside the Vatican”, according to the Holy See’s chief exorcist.

Father Gabriele Amorth, 85, who has been the Vatican’s chief exorcist for 25 years and says he has dealt with 70,000 cases of demonic possession, said that the consequences of satanic infiltration included power struggles at the Vatican as well as “cardinals who do not believe in Jesus, and bishops who are linked to the Demon”.

He added: “When one speaks of ‘the smoke of Satan’ [a phrase coined by Pope Paul VI in 1972] in the holy rooms, it is all true – including these latest stories of violence and paedophilia.”

Not everyone thinks Fr. Amorth’s claims are credible. The Times also interviewed Father José Antonio Fortea Cucurull, “a Rome-based exorcist”, who said that Father Amorth had “gone well beyond the evidence” in claiming that Satan had infiltrated the Vatican corridors.

“Cardinals might be better or worse, but all have upright intentions and seek the glory of God,” he said. Some Vatican officials were more pious than others, “but from there to affirm that some cardinals are members of satanic sects is an unacceptable distance.”

I admit, I question the judgment of an exorcist who looks for empirical evidence of the machinations of the Devil. One of the more profound statements I’ve seen on the Satanic strategy came from Kevin Spacey’s character Verbal in the film, The Usual Suspects. At the end of his description of the workings of the mythical villain Keyser Soze, Verbal concludes: “The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn’t exist. And like that – poof! He’s gone.”

As someone who has seen the diabolical up close and personal, I know the truth in this statement. I’ve been present at no fewer than half a dozen deliverances of persons under demonic influence (performed by an authorized diocesan priest) and while I never enjoy speaking about these experiences, they have left a lasting impression upon me.  The Devil, cunning as he is, seems to take two approaches in the destruction of souls. The first, and by far most effective and common, is that mentioned above – he conceals his presence, leaving his work undiscovered and unchallenged. The second, more dangerous to his success by far, is the role of terrorist. This latter comes when even his subtlety is noticed and thus rejected by a person of sufficient spiritual intuition, at which point he tries to frighten them into submission through the more dramatic manifestations we’ve all come to associate with the demonic. This approach can be effective – a friend once indicated to me that she never wanted to become “too holy” because she didn’t want to experience the supernatural abuse suffered by so many of the saints. But as men like St. John Vianney proved, even the harshest attacks by Satan could become a source of spiritual consolation, leaving the Devil powerless against someone infused with God’s grace. The problem the Devil faces in showing himself is paradoxical – if he exists, so must the God he works against. This is why he almost always prefers to operate under the cover of darkness.

Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich was one of the mystics who
saw with prophetic clarity the infiltration of the Church’s
hierarchy by those under Satanic influence. Among her visions
were the following predictions, which seem eerily similar to
those warnings offered by Fr. Amorth:

Then I saw an apparition of the Mother of God, and she said that the tribulation would be very great…They must pray above all for the Church of Darkness to leave Rome.
[snip]
I saw deplorable things: they were gambling, drinking, and talking in church; they were courting women. All sorts of abominations were perpetrated there. Priests allowed everything and said Mass with much irreverence. I saw that few of them were still godly, and only a few of them had sound views on things.
[snip]
Among the strangest things that I saw, were long processions of bishops. Their thoughts and utterances were made known to me through images issuing from their mouths. Their faults towards religion were shown by external deformities. A few had only a body, with a dark cloud of fog instead of a head. Others had only a head, their bodies and hearts were like thick vapors. Some were lame; others were paralytics; others were asleep or staggering.
I saw what I believe to be nearly all the bishops of the world, but only a small number were perfectly sound. I also saw the Holy Father– God-fearing and prayerful. Nothing left to be desired in his appearance, but he was weakened by old age and by much suffering…
Then I saw that everything that pertained to Protestantism was gradually gaining the upper hand, and the Catholic religion fell into complete decadence. Most priests were lured by the glittering but false knowledge of young school-teachers, and they all contributed to the work of destruction.

In those days, Faith will fall very low, and it will be preserved in some places only…

It’s difficult for some of us to believe that the Devil – whom we know exists as an article of faith – could be so at work even within the Church itself. And yet we’ve received countless warnings that it would be so, even from Christ himself. His promise is both comforting and frightening:
And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Mt. 16:18)

For Christ to offer such a guarantee means that the “gates of hell” would not only try to prevail against the Church, but would come so close to success as to appear to have done so. That this apparent success would be defeated by His power and the efficacy of the Church is a great consolation to us, but we should not presume it will be easy. We must all remain vigilant, and pray that we will be preserved from the enemy, and that his influence will be defeated – not only in our own lives, but in the Church itself.
Thank you, Steve Skojec for this fine article printed originally in Crisis Magazine. https://www.crisismagazine.com/2010/windswept-house-fr-amorth-says-devil-is-at-work-inside-vatican

The truth is the Church and Christianity is very definitely under attack. When I was a young mother, Bible studies at the First Presbyterian Church helped me immensely as I raised my children. God did have direction on what and how to teach them and raise them. Those dear ladies, Joy Drury and Rachel Sugg, had great Bible teachers in Birmingham at Briarwood Presbyterian Church and they brought that devotion to teaching young mothers with them to Dothan, Alabama. They used studies by Dr. James Dobson founder of Focus on the Family

The Southern Poverty Law Center, in my opinion one of our country's greatest purveyors of "hate," is actually considered by Facebook, and in the past the Army and the FBI as a judge of who and what constitutes a"hate group" in our country. They label the Focus on the Family a hate group.

What I write is not politically correct. But, political correctness will not save a single soul.

And so I ask, "Are we now cowards in the faith?" We dabble with Bible studies, but when Harry Potter takes children into sorcery and spells, do we make a stand? We purchase Ouija Boards and Fortune balls so that our children can dabble a bit. It is just play, isn't it?

I saw this recently about Yoga and found myself wondering the same thing. When guided imagery is introduced into the classroom, a part of the Southern Poverty Law Center curriculum on conflict resolution that takes a child to a "happy place," doesn't that New Age technique counter state laws for practices that should be used in a classroom?

When Sex education classes have children visit abortion clinics or study the different types of sexual stimulation, do we protest?

Does life have any value other than as replacement parts for the high bidder? What is the purpose of life? Is there Right and Wrong? How much of your Christianity involves more than sitting in on a Bible study? What does God require of you? Has Social Justice (whatever the whims and vagaries of public opinion dictate) become your God justifying that which is ungodly?

Are we justified by faith in our own selection of a smorgasbord religion? Or are we justified by faith and trust in the guidance of our Lord Jesus Christ as presented in His Word?.

And what happens to those who live according to their own will and not in obedience to God's will? And to those who lead a child astray? Serve as a poor example?

And to those who know better and allow this to happen?  Not my words but ...

The Bible
