Baltimore Schools report 0 students proficient in math, reading...




Wonder why Baltimore is in the fix it is in? Malfeasance on so many levels. It does not matter how much money you throw at a problem if those dollars stick to many fingers along the way and support "politically correct" experimental programs.
As long as we get caught up in "racism" accusations these poor children will continue to be the victim. The mayor on down. Where is all the money going? Does it matter if the roof leaks when the curriculum is so bad that children cannot read? Do teachers teach according to the pay scale or children learn according to their environment?

We sent our children to a school with a traditional Christian education in modular buildings. They all scored above the 98 percentile in math and reading. And that school did not require degrees in EDUCATION, the common denominator in all the failed schools. Those teachers attended a workshop at Pensacola Christian Academy.

Now public schools are bound to a single curriculum, COMMON CORE, developed by Obama buds in Chicago (another failed city), including Bill Ayers and David Coleman, known as the architect of Common Core. He is the son of the former president of Bennington College, Liz Coleman, graduate of the University of Chicago, a big proponent of big government and Marxist ideology. Coleman’s prior association with Ayers, Obama and Arne Duncan probably helped his appointment.

Or it could be his philosophy: “These standards are the most serious attempt this country has yet made to come to grips with those early sources of inequality.” He has no background as a teacher. He is also president of the College Board (yearly salary $550,000 total compensation $750,000) and will make changes to the SAT to make it more socially just. (This should set up red alert warning flags for Home and Christian schooled children who will need to pass these tests to get into college.)

Coleman’s childhood friend, Jason Zimba, teaches mathematical physics at Bennington College and like Coleman attended Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. He admitted that his creation, the Common Core math standards, would only prepare students for a minimum junior college level--not STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).

With Common Core accepted by school systems THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY there is NO LIBERTY TO ESTABLISH A CURRICULUM THAT WORKS. They are BOUND TO the philosophy of Coleman, Ayers, Zimba, Duncan and Obama. Coleman and Zimba, co-founders of the New York based GROW network, came to Chicago to produce data studies for the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC). At the time Obama was on the CAC Board brought on board by Bill Ayers and Chicago’s Superintendent of Schools, Arne Duncan--later U.S. Secretary of Education. CAC paid $2.2 million for the services of Coleman and Zimba in data studies.

I say LET OUR CHILDREN GO! To whatever school their parents deem right for their child. They tried to close down Marva Collins school in Chicago because her traditional curriculum and common methods ACTUALLY WORKED to teach those labeled "learning-disabled", "disadvantaged," Attention Deficit" by the government schools to actually perform and perform well! So why are children held hostage to public schools?

The power of the union. You are labeled a racist, a Flat Earther, Ku Klux Klan when you dare to say children deserve curriculum that actually teaches them to read (anything-- but particularly tried and true classics), write (with correct grammar and punctuation, and spell (correctly). (How do I know? Judge Mike Crespi came to my defense in the Opinion Pages of The Dothan Eagle when they allowed someone to accuse me of racism when I ran for the school board in Dothan, Alabama on a BACK TO BASICS agenda. (I was accused of having an "agenda." Yep. They were right. I wanted ALL children to be able to read! Arrest me!)

David Hornbeck who wrote Alabama's ALABAMA FIRST documents changing curriculum from sequential to thematic and making Outcomes Based Education and Whole Language the law in Alabama, served first as superintendent of Maryland Schools and as a director of the Open Society Institute. "Open Society Foundations (OSF), formerly the Open Society Institute, is an international grantmaking network founded by business magnate George Soros. Open Society Foundations financially support civil society groups around the world, with a stated aim of advancing justice, education, public health and medias" (according to their website).

David Hornbeck is a familiar name in educational reform circles in the United States. He is a leading proponent of what is called, "Outcome Based Education." His ideas on education are presented in a book he co-edited, titled, Human Capital and America's Future. (I have read that book and call it the manifesto of the Left.) He successfully "used the courts" to achieve his ends throughout the country establishing this failed methodology.

As Superintendent of Maryland schools, he used Baltimore school children as guinea pigs for Outcomes Based Education and Whole Language.

Looking at these connections is it any wonder that our schools have become breeding grounds for illiterate radicals for change with no understanding or historical connections to the world around us?

And who is to blame? The radicals (or ignorant dupes) that run things. Democrats who run the city and the education establishment. They should all be charged with child abuse, endangerment, or criminal neglect for continuing with methods that do not work for achieving what parents send their children to school -- to learn to read, write, spell and be culturally literate. Not become (their version of )social justice warriors.

Baltimore became infamous for those of us who fought OBE because of David Hornbeck and now the chickens have come home to roost. Only Donald Trump dares to challenge them. I stand with the children -- and my president. Thank you, President Trump for speaking truth to power!
